The weather here is a bit rainy... and dark...... and, well, in need of snuggling somewhere beautiful with a good book. Oh look, here looks nice. I think this would do the trick don't you? It looks very inviting...

What a Hoot!...

I have developed a passion for owls. I think it started by watching Harry Potter and seeing Hedgewig. She was such a beautiful white owl. So I seem to have a small collection now and growing larger. Want to see?
Also with a beautiful candle of Gardenia

Weekend...

Image

We love the weekend in our house because it means sleeping in after a busy week. This weekend however is full of surprises. Master T is having a few mates over for a birthday bash. This involves DS, swimming, McDonalds for lunch, swimming, cake, party bags.... from 9am to 5 pm. Am I crazy to be surrounded by all these 11 year olds for most of the day? Maybe, I will let you know!

LJ (sister) has nipped up for the weekend  to spend time with our parents and will pop in for a bit to help. Miss T and her will go out to lunch for a chat whilst I entertain the troops. They are close although don't really spend enough time together. Miss T was the first baby in the family and they have a special bond. I hope Miss T realizes what a great opportunity this is. LJ goes by 7 am on Sunday so it is a fleeting visit.

We have a bike ride fundraiser on Sunday and then it is Monday again! Are you doing anything exciting? I've been told my hair needs colouring. Gotta love a sister!

Have a great weekend all...

Things I Know...

Image
 These things I know:
  • Although the world is a little crazy at the moment, there is beauty and wonder to be seen every day
  • It is nearly 1/4 of the way through the year
  • A girl needs girlfriends. I've said it before and it is too true
  • Absence d-o-e-s make the heart grow fonder
  • Since the Silver Fox has been away I have had to sort out a rogue sprinkler system, a tripped pool filter and a warning light regarding my radiator. All boy jobs me thinks
  • I am nearly up to 300 posts and as I totally forgot my 250 milestone, I might just have to do a little prize for this one. Stay tuned
  • The air is getting a little chilly in the mornings...
  • I ended up having my house sprayed after not having any house done since my babies came along and I took great delight in seeing the little dead beasties. I mean r-e-a-l delight!
  • I am really enjoying my challenge and I l-o-v-e sore muscles because it means that they have been stretched and used.
  • I love owls. I didn't really know that until recently
  • My children have been behaving really well since the Silver Fox has been away. I have thanked them for their cooperation
  • I am coping okay with my teenager
  • I ran, didn't walk, to the Target sheet sale! They are being washed as we speak!
  • I love my life!
Have a great day everyone! I am going to have a fabulous weekend I have decided...

just Reading...

Well, we are surviving without the Silver Fox... just. the night before he left the TV in the bedroom stopped working in the windy weather. The SF thought it might be the ariel (is that how you spell ariel or is this the mermaid spelling? Too much time spent watching kid's TV). Alas, I am without suitable distraction to get me to sleep. So I thought. In fact, I haven't really missed it!! I know it is bad energy to watch TV in bed and up until about 4 years ago there was never a TV to be seen except in the Media Room. In fact we were a 1 TV family which might be unusual today. But, the Silver Fox did buy m-e one for my birthday so in the bedroom it went.

So..... I have returned to reading instead. Works a treat and this is my book of choice at the moment. Sarah Ban Breathnach's Peace and Plenty. I needed to order it in. It is about, well, money.... It is about choices. It is about being 'thrifty'. Not frugal, stingy thrifty but generous, compassionate, thriving thrifty. In fact, it states the meaning of thrift as 'the condition of one who thrives, being endowed with good luck and good fortune'.

Hmmm, worth a look I think!!

Cupcakes Galore...

Hmmm, looks like there are some missing...

It was Master T's birthday yesterday and I have a tradition of making cupcakes to take to school. Plus, for the first 10 years of their little lives, they get a 'number' cake. Master T is now 11 so we made cupcakes - 46 - in all to celebrate. I have multiple patty pans and have it down to a very fine art so that I can whip them all up within the hour. Icing comes later and Master T is very innovative in this area. Last year was blue icing but this year was a tame yellow. Like 'Picachu' in Pokemon apparently. for his birthday he got tickets to see Nitro Circus with his Daddy and was quite teary when he unwrapped his gift with Daddy on the loud speaker of the phone. I think he is missing him more than he lets on.
Icing away...
Nearly done...
No room in the fridge
So Master T had a lovely birthday. He will have a party at the weekend and 'hangout' with some friends (Note to self: NOT a playdate anymore). I spoke to Posie (go and visit her here) on the phone last night and she had just made 48 cupcakes! Must be something in the air!!!

Have a lovely day. I am doing a talk for my course for 60 minutes tomorrow and have just bought Easter eggs as a bribe. Wish me luck...

just Glass...

It is lovely to surf around blogworld at to see what everyone is up to with their style, their accessories and their gorgeous tastes. Glass jars with lids caught my eye although a lot of the ones featured were more sculpted and curvy. I have a sleeker palate  with a love for straight lines and solid shapes so it was with joy that I found these jars at Christmas to fill with goodies. Now I have only just arranged them as it has rained heaps here and I had some difficulty getting my sand dry, like really dry. So, it is with delight I have positioned them in my favourite little nooks. They currently have a beach theme (as you might expect with sand involved) and viola, here they are. I am waiting for the sea grass to flower so I can grab some to add but for now I am rather pleased....

Positive Thoughts...

One of my favourite sites is: My Positive Thoughts. Have you seen it? It has, well, nice positive thoughts teamed with a beautiful photograph. Great for the soul. Great to take a little time out for you. Great for a bit of positivity. Here is a sample of their post:

Wrap yourself with positive attitudes and energy.

You can have a positive attitude about the events in your life , or you can come from a place of complaint and misery. You decide. You can consciously choose to respond in a positive way to almost any event or circumstance-a positive attitude is simple a choice you make.
Now we all know people with negative attitudes .They are the ones who constantly complain , whine , and moan. Nothing seems to go right for them. They are the perpetual victims in life. This is because they are operating at a lower frequency , and through the Law of Attraction they are attracting even more to complain about. The reason they tend to stay ''stuck''in their negative lifestyles is because they are constantly focusing their thoughts and energy on their negative present and negative past. By doing so , they are creating the same future over and over.
On the other hand , we also know people with positive attitudes-the ones who always seemto be happy , the ones who really seem to have a handle on things in their life. They are more fun , their energy feels great to be around , and they are operating at a higher frequency.
Surround yourself with these positive , nourishing , uplifting people whenever you can. Spend your time with spiritually evolved people who encourage your growth and applaud your successes. Wrap yourself in a support network of inspirational people with positive attitudes and energy.

Tampering

All my childhood my Father has cooked. My Mother did most of the cooking but my Dad had his favourite meals to make. He did a wonderful Sunday breakfast and his chilli con carne is still to die for. He does follow recipes but likes to 'tamper'. Add a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Usually it works very well but when it doesn't, it d-o-e-s-n-'t

When my Mother got breast cancer my Dad took over the cooking and despite her being given months to live, some 17 years have gone by. Now every second Wednesday we go to my parents for dinner and whilst the Silver Fox is away I have managed to get myself invited every Wednesday. Hehe!! Dad cooks and also makes a pretty nice dessert too. The joy of eating a nice home-cooked meal made by someone else!! Bellisimo!!! ? (Don't fret dear folk, my parents have a meal at my house on the weekend. Fair do's)

Tonight however he tried his hand at making a Mexican Pie.

A chilli and chocolate Mexican Pie.

Didn't work God love him...

Same Same

Image
LJ (my sister) and I have the same  children. Well, not really the same same. I have a girl then boy. She has a boy then girl. BUT they are very similar!!! Our eldest's are both blonde with blue eyes. Bit strange as both sets of parents are dark haired with brown or hazel eyes. Both are bright wee things, a bit anxious and worriers...'What if we miss the bus Mum?'. They are both sensitive to colours and flavours. They are both the planners of the families. They have the same interests. They were both quick readers "Oh, good, the book is nice and thick!". Both are diligent with homework, chores and the like. They could pass for brother and sister better than the real brother and sister. They have a sense of order and a respect for the rules. They don't need to be nagged. They just do what they should. For now atleast.

Our second children... Well. Different story. They too look alike and could easily pass for siblings. They both have dark eyes and hair and olive skin. They are our 'honesty' children. They sort of, well, get right to the crux of the situation. They see it how it is and say what they think. Usually, they are right, absolutely right. They are a very good judge of character. They are stubborn. When they set their mind to something, that is it. No point trying to change them. No use.

As they live a short 12 hours drive from us contact is limited to about 4-5 times per year but they tumble in together secure with the knowledge that they are family.

Life sure is going to be interesting...

Dear Me...

Image
If you could stand in a room with yourself at 18, what would you say to you? What would you like the 18 year old you to know? This is not a new concept but one that you may have to think about before you answer. What words of wisdom would you say that you wish you had known at that age? Hmmm, very deep for a Tuesday isn't it? But worth exploring I think. You might need time to answer fully but what comes to mind now?

Me?
'Have more fun. Set aside time to achieve and then time for some fun. You are a bit too serious at your age. Your body is beautiful. Believe me. You have nothing to feel uptight about. People are not judging you as harshly as you judge yourself. Your beautiful Aunt has not long to live so although you are kind to her, go that extra step and make more time. You are going to miss her and she will be your guardian angel. The 80's were harsh fashion-wise so take my word that n-o-o-n-e really looked good with spiral perms and shoulder pads. Above all - stop worrying about everything. You have a great life with wonderful family and friends. It all works out...

Okay, now it is your turn. What would you want to say to your 18 year old self?...
