Weekend...

Ahhh, weekend bliss. The Silver Fox took Master T bike riding for hours. Currently he is still asleep. Miss T went to a soccer breakup and the work. I took Mamma out for a walk and an icecream. She is a delight to be around as you can see from her lovely photo. Dare I hope she has moved from the snitchy stage of dementia to sweetness? So far so good.

Today we are lounging around, drinking coffee in bed and will wander down to the beach for a swim. The day is glorious and having the Silver Fox home makes me feel complete.

Have a lovely day.

Oopsie...

Bepanthen is thick, yellow and terrific for nappy rash. I have some in my bathroom as a staple, left over from my baby taming days. Bepanthen comes in a lovely tube. Similar to a toothpaste tube.

So, picture this. It is night time. I m-i-g-h-t need glasses more than I wear them.

Just setting the scene.

I m-a-y have picked up the Bepanthen to clean my teeth..

Let me tell you not really a mistake to be repeated! My teeth were coated for days!

Note to self: wear your glasses stupid girl

just Excited...

The Silver Fox is coming home for the school holidays. Yay! He is s-o excited. As are we. He is leaving the current job in Townsville and will start a new one when he goes to Proserpine. He will be running it himself which is sort a big responsibility. And he is dead excited to be doing so. I can hear the joy in his voice. I love that.

We both have Friday off so will take a lovely long walk on the beach with the pooch then head off somewhere for lunch. I like to make the Silver Fox relax as soon as he steps foot on home soil. I might even book him in for a massage as well. He will love it.

I might have a little list of jobs too. Just a little one like replacing light bulbs, gardening etc. I will let him have the weekend to relax first.

He will also be involved in his BMX riding which he has missed terribly. Both he and Master T can ride to their heart's content. Go for it I say. I had some blood tests done on Master T which showed he had low iron so I have been feeding him up on hamburgers, steak, spinach and vitamins. Hopefully he will be more exercise tolerant soon.

Have a lovely day.

just a First...

I have achieved a personal first!

I have literally worn out a pair of sand shoes.

From exercising.

I know. I am amazed too.

Me!

just Encouragement...

Life gets so busy doesn't it. It takes skill and timing to keep juggling all those balls in the air. Maybe the kids are getting weary as school holidays are fast approaching. I find them, how would you say? Lackadaisical ( hmm, doesn't look like it is spelled right)

Opportunities are being missed

Motivation is reducing

As a parent I find I am constantly trying to be supportive and give opportunities that perhaps I never had.

But

Some of us are not really enthused about such opportunities and perhaps are looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Maybe I was the same when I was young. My parents paid for gymnastic and I was quite okay at it. But there came a time when I simply could not be bothered going. Pity. I asked my Mum years later why she didn't just make me. She just aided one eyebrow.

I have a similar look today. However, I make deals with my children that if they want to do something they need to complete it for the specified period of time. For example, Miss T wanted to learn the guitar and as she does music, it was highly recommended to learn an instrument. She is quite a natural.
But. At present she can't be bothered going to lessons in school time. "I forgot".

My solution? I charge her double the fee should she not go.

So far this form of encouragement seems to be working as she understands the value of money

just Disapproving...

The response to my Dad putting my Mum in care has been 99% positive. My siblings support the decision 100%. Most friends say they saw it coming for years.
But

One couple of long time friends

They highly disapprove. Highly

And they tell my Dad

He gets destroyed by their attitude even though he knows he made the right decision for Mum and him.

They criticize everything including Mum not wearing stockings!

Both my sister and I have spoken to them to no avail. We are not outwardly rude but they are not willing to listen. No insight. They recently rang me and asked if I could drive Mum up and they would keep her over night and drive her back in the morning. See? No insight into her condition to even suggest that. Our priority is to Mum and she would not cope in a strange place at all. Heck, she gets stressed when I take her out for an hour!

We are very disappointment in them for my Dad because it doesn't matter how many people are supportive, this attitude hurts him the most.

We have even considered asking them not to visit but at the end of the day Mum has a great time even if she doesn't remember! So now I have asked them to contact me only when they are intending to visit to save Dad getting stressed by them.

Dementia is never easy is it on many levels?

just Goal Setting...

When Master T was younger and we asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he would say with a serious face "I want to change my name to Scotty Prince( football player), sit on the couch all day drinking coke".

He was dead serious

Hmmm, always an interesting child

As the years went on and his goal never changed, I asked him more questions.

"Whose couch is it?"

"Oh, mine"

"Where do you live?" This was getting a little more hopeful

"Oh, in my unit"

"How did you buy the couch?"

"I work". Oh, I'm liking this more and more

"What do you do?"

"I'm a carpenter and I have a ute and I come over for dinner and bring my girlfriend"

Well, well, well. Sometimes things aren't as they seem.

"When I have kids I'm going to let them drink coke AND have a computer in their room", he said.

"Write it down son, write it all down"

I never did get to the bottom of why he wants to change his name to Scotty Prince.

just Olden Days.............

Master T has asked me to write a page on memories from my childhood.

Heyyyyyyyyyyy....................

Is that like write about "the olden days when you were young?"

Not sure I am really ready for this. Surely I don't fit into that category just yet?

Do I?

How rude!

What food are you craving at the moment? I am potty about this "super food" Quinoa. Served with salad and tuna it is an amazing lunch time treat.

Healthy and delicious. Sort of crunchy too. Yum!
