Favourite Decoration...

This is my most precious decoration...

Partridge in a Pear tree

Both sides...

My gorgeous neighbour, three houses ago made this for me. We did ceramics together and her work was so fine and delicate. My work was big and bold and slap-happy. She spent ages sanding and painting. The detail, the outlining. Anyone who has done ceramics knows that if you don't use enough paint it will be streaky. Not this decoration. Perfect! Made with love. For me. It is my absolute favourite and only I can touch it. It is always placed at the top of the tree, away from inquisitive hands but within easy viewing. My dear neighbour and friend took a-g-e-s painting and glazing and it is my all time special treasure.  I a-d-o-r-e it. Even though I hardly see my friend, she is always in my heart. As true friends are...
Do you have a favourite decoration and why?...

Hallmark Occassion...

To Infinity and Beyond... Awww-he was so little!!
Ever since my babies were small I have bought them a Hallmark Christmas decoration each to put on the tree. The great thing about these decorations is that they nicely support whatever obsession the children seemed to have focused on for the year as their favourite (Hmmmm , more commercialism really). Like above, Master T was way into Buzz and Woody. He couldn't get enough of them when he was 3! A lot of the decorations require photos which is lovely to look back on. When my brood are old enough I will give them said decorations for their own trees. Might have to be when they have children and realize the true dedication behind the tradition. (My sister LJ was a great chucker-out-er-er so my magpie nature notices these things...) I usually pick them up at Target here starting in October (hey, I'm a true Christmas fairy to the core). They do decorations for all family members and occasions so keep an eye out for them as an idea... Sometimes they do things like have music or move. Pretty cute. A-n-d they have the year stamped on them too.....

A Christmas Glimpse...

In our house Christmas has commenced!!! We say 'pashaw' to tradition of the 1st of December!! We started last night, putting up the decorations. Here is a small taste of what is to follow... I have gift wrapped the front door to resemble a present. This was done with ribbon on sale from last year bought at Bed Bath and Table. Nice huh? When this comes down after Christmas I think I will sew all the ribbons together and join the ends with elastic so I can just snap on each long piece then pin the bow on. Was a bit tricky with 3 long pieces of ribbon. Stay tuned, more posts to come....
