Heartsore...

The Silver Fox is soon to depart again for hotter pastures where work does beckon and the time frame promised is a mere 5 weeks. Hopefully only 5 weeks. Last time that turned into 9 months. Well, we all survived I know but not having him around is just not the same. We have been married now for 22 years and you know, a girl gets used to having someone around!

The Silver Fox has been home now for 10 months and life for us has been forever changed. In a good way, no a great way. I'm not really able to define it but he is more 'giving' of himself. And we are all loving it, including him. So we are s-q-u-e-e-z-i-n-g in some quality family time and this long weekend helps. We took the kids and the dog on our favourite walk around the point at Coolangatta this morning. We sat and watch whales breeching at Point Danger, walked and talked. Okay, the walk w-a-s 3 hours so there were some grumbles but not from us or the dog. She l-o-v-e-d it! I have lined up some surfing lessons too. Miss T is keen but Master T has already had a few so "knows all about it" Hmmm, we will see.

Tomorrow brings completion of a few chores and a bit of couple time whilst the kids help their Grandfather do some gardening and fill a trailer with rubbish. Not sure what we will get up to. Maybe I can make him come for a run with me and we can walk back along the beach and talk, plan, scheme and just 'be'. I have made the Silver Fox make a few promises like not working too hard and not getting enough sleep. I have lots to do while he is away and have the easy end of the bargain with lots of distractions to fill my day: kids to come home to, sport, chores etc.... He at least is staying with friends so will have some company around. It can get very lonely being by yourself.

Already my heart is heavy with dread at him going. Almost like some part of me is missing and I feel kind of off balance.

You know?

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme...

The sweet sounds of Simon and Garfunkel are floating down the stairs from Miss T's room.

"Scarborough Fair...."

This teenage business is a tad perplexing at times

Zap, Zap...

 Mindfulness

Awareness

Rewards

All about me. About how I see me

About positive reinforcement

I am still exercising, still sweating blood and shedding tears

I am achieving

I still get excited when my sweat drips on to the floor. Because it is MY sweat. Because I have exercised to full capacity to make that sweat. Okay, I'm new to intensive exercise. I have come a long way from my first boxing class where I fainted merely from using too many big muscle groups at the same time.

I have rewarded myself with trendy exercise wear. To feel good in nice things. To wear firm flattering gear and to ditch the shapeless garments I felt I deserved. Until recently.

I have been on this journey to better health and mind, to positivity and satisfaction now for nearly 3 years.

Now, I am rewarding myself with mindfulness, with 'being aware' with being 'present'. I am finally beginning to feel I deserve to take time in being pampered. To be happy with 'me'

How?

Well, I am having my hair dyed more frequently so when someone's eyes stray to the conversation triangle between eyes and forehead, I don't immediately cringe at my... regrowth

But

I am also having laser treatment to give me smooth armpits. Something I have wanted to do for a long time. Something to reward myself for all the hard work through Winter.

But

Zap, zap burning-flesh-smelling zap!!

Not nice people. Let me tell you.

Not nice

Here We Go Again....

The Silver Fox needs to go away again to Townsville for work. Hmmm. They said 5 weeks. They said that last time and he was away 9 months. But still. You have to do what you have to do. Right? He leaves in 3 weeks. He is a different guy these days...

I will miss him. Maybe I will do the Spring cleaning when he is gone. He will like that he doesn't have to. But, if he reads this, please know we can do it when you get back. Okay!

Haha.

Oh, By the Way...

Conversation with Master T:

Set the scene: Getting his overnight bag out from the back seat and was having some difficulty closing the door. Something was 'stuck'.

As I was kissing Master T goodbye, he mentioned that " oh, that little clip from your umbrella got stuck in the door, broke off and went down the storm water drain'.

' oh' I thought. ' okay'.

I then drove off to work and it was only when I turned around that I noticed this:

I must have laughed for a good 5 minutes.

Is it boy's thing or did Master T really underplay the whole situation?

Packing...

We have 2 nights away at a local hotel. A prize from winning one of the gym's challenges and we are taking it this weekend. One night child free and one night with us all together. So I am in the middle of packing, sending both children to a different friend's place, farming the dog out to a professional sitter. It should be fun. This hotel is literally about 5 minutes from our home. If that. I like that because if we forget anything, we can quickly nip back home.

Aaah, can't wait. Breakfast by the pool, book to read.... me and my Silver Fox....

Etched In Glass....

My,parents had this made for me one birthday. It is a block of glass with my children's faces etches within, highlighted by a platform lit from below.

I love it. It is stunningly accurate, the spitting image of my children four years ago. You can see Master T's twinkle in his eye, bordering on potential mutiny at having to sit still for so long. Miss T is her 10 year old self, forever.

I have this beautiful art sitting in my family room, surrounded by other photos of my children. As you can see.

Aaah, a forever keepsake I think.

Ciao for now
