Weekend...

Image

Aaahhh, the weekend! I am half way through my 12 week challenge which meant a morning of re-assessment: beep test, sit ups, push ups, arm dips, brace and to follow, a lovely 2.4km run. All before 8am. I feel fitter and stronger than I have in a long time. Since I did the 10km run in Byron (here), I  have the mindset of "2.4 kms? No worries". So this morning shaved about 3 minutes off my first, rather tragic, attempt.  My overall goal is to beat Mother Nature at her game and be as fit and healthy as I can be before my metabolism succumbs to my hormones, or lack of then, or whatever happens to them....

Family visiting this weekend, loads of washing to do. Master T wants some 'skins' and I am in desperate need of a shower after all that workout. Lucky you can't smell me. Master T thinks I smell like kangaroo food. That can't be good!

Trust your weekend is full of happiness, relaxation and love. The Silver Fox caught up with an old friend last night who happened to be in his neighbourhood so I wonder if he is bright and chirpy this morning? I will be a good wife and not ring him.

I'm a bit excited that I have not much planned as life has been quite hectic of late...

Do you have a busy weekend planned? Me? I have just done my baseline for "The Challenge": beep test, sit ups, push ups, plank, dips... followed by a 2.2km run. As Kath Day Knight would say......Noice!! And all before 8am!! Now only 11.5 weeks to go.....

This weekend is full of chores, family and friends...... Gorgeous weather......... Aaaah!! life is good

So folks, have a good one. Live everyday to the fullest and cherish those in your life.......

Psssttt...

Before...
After...

Psstt. I've done it. I've moved my bedroom around. Me, a towel or two, and some elbow grease. Did a bit of problem solving. Took the mattress off then wrestled the mattress back on. Looks w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l!! 'Oh', I hear you ask. "What did the Silver Fox say?'...... Well, he sort of, well, hasn't really, well, you know...noticed as yet... Okay, okay - he was out. Maybe he will notice later, when he ventures upstairs and I hear a 'bang' followed by a curse. And he comes down rubbing his shin....  Oops! He might give me a 'look'. But, one knows one shouldn't stand in the way of one's wife and her furniture-moving.... OCD, obsession, addiction.... hobby. Doesn't one?...... I have been respecting his theory that he can only sleep with the East/West facing aspect. For 5 years. But then it occurred to me. Sometimes he is asleep on the couch and I have to wake him to come to bed. He doesn't seem to have any trouble sleeping on our North/South facing couch. So, job done! Knowing me, I will be too excited to sleep tonight!!!

Greet The day...

The weekend is here!! How are you going to greet the day?...... Me?  Up at 5am. Markets at 6am. A fresh cup of skinny latte. Noice!!! What then? Hhhhmmm, what will I plan for this week's dinners?  Looking for asparagus this time.....Salmon resting on a bed of char grilled asparagus for dinner. Maybe fresh pasta for the Chilli Tuna and Spinach Linguini.... Fresh veges, homemade quiche.... Stir fry going down an absolute treat for Master T who eats l-o-a-d-s of veges without realizing it..... Must be due for flowers again.....  Gym at 9am.... washing, grocery shopping.... Miss T goes to school camp next week for the whole week so maybe some quality time packing...... Planning with Master T what to do for the week without his sister around...  Then we'll see what pans out for Sunday hey?.........

What about you? How are you going to greet the weekend?.............

Weekend

Bit of a s-l-o-w start to this weekend. It is a bit rainy and cloudy. My boys are off doing 'boy stuff' which fills my heart with happiness. Miss T and I are 'hanging out': trip to the shops, grocery shopping ... Planning a family event tomorrow doing what 'Daddy' wants for Father's Day.  Lunch, movie, bike ride....whatever. Last year The Silver Fox did some 'stunts' on his bike. CRASH!! It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion:  his foot slipped.... handlebars straight into his groin (the bit at the side...) an instant black, purple bruise, skinned legs and arms.... noice!!! 'May I be so bold Silver Fox as to suggest proper footwear be worn this year rather than....... Nike slip-on slides?'  Just a thought... happy Father's Day to all those important men in our lives!! Have a good one folks, enjoy the moments...

Back Again

Tweenie Girl and I are just back from LJ's house and we had a great time. Nothing like kicking around with the cousins and family to bring happiness!! Great talks, relaxing times, great food and just hanging out. My boys did boy stuff and Tweenie Son said he was having a great time until we got home. Makes me happy that (sort of) because it means that they were doing 'bonding stuff'. I am happy to step aside for them to develop their relationship together. He is at that stage where he needs his dad more. He needs to be shown mateship stuff, how to do boy things... He needs to learn to moderate his own emotions. He needs 'boy time'. What did they do? Rebuilt my son's bike and repainted it in yellow and black. Cool huh? He knows a thing or two now about washers and self locking somethings and why his back brakes 'stick'. Boy-stuff..... Boy-talk. Happy boys.

Tweenie Girl and I had a great time too. I was very proud traveling with her, watching people watch her, observing how she interacts with the world. I thanked her for being so good with her cousins and 'sharing' herself around, reading books to them, colouring in with them, bossing them when they needed it. She said she found it exhausting but hey, she is very good at it. It was nice to watch her interact on their level and then chat to her Aunty and Uncle about current events or favourite books etc. LJ couldn't really understand her at times as she does talk "Tweenie" which is very fast with lots 'you know...like's thrown in. It was nice watching her be more conscious of this and trying harder.

LJ and I had great fun as usual. We went out to dinner with one of her divine friends. So nice meeting people that are important to people you love. Had lots of laughs and got kicked out of the restaurant at nearly midnight. Way to go girls. LJ and I conquered our personal nemesis and then.... not!!! Caused lots of laughter which was again related to a situation in March. Still chuckling. Note to self, never again!!!! She is a wonderful sister my LJ. So, thanks again. B-I-L was also home and was witness to the fun and frivolities. Thanks too.

Well, back to reality. Sort of. I fly back again tomorrow to go to a conference so now is washing, lunches, confirming pickup arrangements, sorting school uniforms........ as I am away for 1 night.... no Tweenies. Just with the work hat this time....

Hi Ho Off We All Go

Well, up the Tweenies and I got this morning to go to the Farmer's Market for 7am!! I am positive that they would have rather slept in but I asked them to come and they agreed. Tweenie Son was again very agreeable at being woken although he did mumble something about 'I've got to do something at school'... Tweenie Girls was her predictable self so I stood at the door telling her to 'waken' as she snarled a bit. So, off we went. Okay, okay, it wasn't quite so easy. I did sort of bribe them with the potential for a hot chocolate if they caused me no trouble but I did impress upon them that that wasn't to be the reason to come. It was of course, so off we went. Apart from Tweenie Son rally-driving my shopping basket which is on wheels, all went well. I suppose it is because he is a boy. i don't quite view the world with the same focus that everything needs to 'screech' and 'spin'. New stage is stunt riding on his bike. Broken wrist cured the skateboard stage for a while.

We are having family again this weekend so anti pasta for entree, followed by chilli prawn linguine with spinach with home made garlic bread and orange syrup cake with dessert. If we get around to coffee then some almond bread biscotti to finish off. Noice. Silver Fox's brother, wife and their fur-child (dog) are coming for the night before they head overseas next week for a holiday. Aaaahhhh, now wouldn't that be nice? To jet off for 3 weeks. One day perhaps.

We had a bit of a scare with Tweenie Son yesterday. We are trying to give him a bit more independence as he is 10 so we will let him ride his bike and meet up with friends. We also let him go to the corner shop for milk etc. So yesterday he was playing with 2 friends, one of whom I didn't know although he seemed nice. I was outside to keep an eye out as he was in the park. Can't see too much due to the trees but could probably hear if any trouble. Can't help it really. Part of their playing was going into the 'drains' which is a big no-no in our family (partly due to snakes ...). At one stage he thought he lost his new friend so him and his other friend went to the parents to tell them they thought he was stolen. They parents promptly put both boys in their car and got them to give directions to where they thought he had been picked up by a stranger. Hhhhmmmmm. Not on. Getting into someone's car. Especially people you don't know. Friends, what would you have done? Parents should know better I suppose but I guess they were concerned that their son had been abducted. The boys weren't causing trouble. They saw a van where they thought their friend was and were quite worried that he was really in trouble.  Tweenie Son was very upset when he got home. Why? Because he hopped in a car and he knew that was wrong. Did I yell? No.  Did I ban him from his newly found independence? Yes. Because he was playing in the drains. We discussed it all calmly. We problem solved about remembering license plates. We talked about stranger danger in general. We also discussed that 'feeling' he had in his tummy. The one that told him that the situation wasn't right. So, I will clip his wings for a while. And get more grey hair trying to balance his life between safety and autonomy....... I had a bit of a sleepless night worrying about the 'what ifs' life throws at us every day. Friends would you have done anything differently?......
