Things I Know...

The Silver Fox is here for a glorious 2 weeks and is currently spoking a bike wheel on my new carpet. Yep, life is back to normal. We have had his family down for a lovely meal and we have started the holiday at home schedule.

The year has flown and there are some things I do know:
*My Mum is blossoming in her place of care. And my Dad looks years younger. *It is just over a year since she was placed and life is fine
*This time 2 years ago we got our lovely pup
*It is so heavenly being together again
*Just waiting for the boys to get home so I can send them out for seafood. Hmm, prawns, bugs, maybe a sand crab or two?
*Christmas in Summer is a time for beach, seafood and salads.. No sign of snow here
*Time to think about those 2014 resolutions. Mine? More family togetherness
*Master T was very connected to his school work this year. Yay!
*As I type a fire engine is driving around the streets with the firemen dressed as Santa. Always brings a tear to my eye.
*I have continued my journey to good health and am now 2 kg off my goal weight and down 2-3 dress sizes. Yay!
*As a family we have limited gift giving and it is sooooo wonderful! None for the adults, amount capped for the children and a donation to a favourite charity.
*Christmas is a happy time but can also be very sad. My thoughts are with those feeling low at this time
*Looking forward to those new release movies after Christmas. Hobbit ticket for me.

So, sweet Bloggers, Merry Christmas to you all and may you be surrounded by family, happiness and loads of health

Holiday at Home...

Image

This year I have been searching, searching for a nice place to go on holidays over Christmas. The Silver Fox has been away soooooooooo long that we all need a good relax together.

But

I can't justify spending that much money for a few days

So

I investigated going out to lunch on Christmas Day.

Well

One posh hotel chain wanted....... $940. Just for lunch( 3 adults and 1 child). All-righty-then. Hmmm, spend a month's groceries on 1 meal? I don't think so.

So

A holiday at home is what I propose and will enforce, I mean, coordinate, for us all. This will include ...... Ahem....
*Stand up paddle boarding
*Boogie boarding
*Kayaking
*Trip to a theme park
*Go to Byron Bay for the day
*Picnic at the creek
*Visits to the off-leash park for the pooch
*Trip to see some local sites
*Dinner out somewhere nice
*Bike riding

So, Internet for ALL will be limited to 1/2 each day and we will be off!

What do you think? We really haven't explored our local area at all since we have been here so I think it is really necessary to drive around and see all the gorgeous sites.

The Silver Fox is back for 2 weeks and then off up north again. That is the way it is unfortunately but we are counting the sleeps until he arrives.

What are you doing for Christmas. Anything new?

A Few Tears...

I had a bit of a cry this morning. Very unlike me. Very unlike me at all. I was relaying a story to Master T about a six year old dying of leukemia and the kindness shown by some firemen.

It occurred to me I was telling my gorgeous, healthy, 13-nearly-14 year old. I could hardly finish the story.

Imagine!

He asked me if I was crying and then put he dog on my lap and said "Ginger Mumma needs you". She did look at me with concern which was nice.

I am grateful for what I have but sometimes the kindness of others just touches my heart. Those who go beyond the minimal.

Here is the link. Get the tissues. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Best Getting Packing...

Image

So there we were walking the dog and Master T asked me what my resolutions were going to be. Did I want to be fitter? Did I want to win money?

My answers were no, that I want to do things as a family and go to New Zealand next year and maybe after Christmas spend 2 nights in our closest city and go the museums, art galleries etc. Also, to fly to Proserpine and visit with the Silver Fox for a week and go to the islands and take a crocodile tour...

Both children stopped and looked at me

"What, are you going to rob a bank?"

"What's with you"

Hmmm. Me thinks not enough family holidays for this little family.

So, that is my New Years resolution. Save those pennies, search for bargain accommodation and value deals and travel as a family.

Happy Bottom...

Image

I have a very good girlfriend who recently bought me a nice pair of undies. Girlfriends know you like no other don't they?

These are bamboo cotton edged with the softest of lace

AND

They stay in place. No sneaking up. No visible panty line. In fact, when you wear them you don't notice them they are sooooo comfy. They are made by Jockey.

So next time I saw her I told her how happy my bottom was. Okay, she was a tad perplexed I must admit until I explained myself a little more. She totally agreed. Said it gave her confidence.

All this excitement from a pair of undies. First socks and now undies.

However, take time to enjoy the little things in life people. If undies bring joy, well, so be it.

If the Silver Fox is reading this I would like him to know diamonds bring me joy too! Actually, if he was reading this he would tell me I must be really bored without him to be writing such c$*p.

See? That is why a girl needs girlfriends.

And, I love my undies...

Good Start...

Image

My week end started off amazingly

Why?

Because when I was hanging out the washing this morning every sock was a pair, including the school ones.

Pretty rare in this house

Hey, you have to appreciate the little things in life don't you?

Have a great weekend everyone

Birthday Girl...

Image

It was my birthday today and I am currently in bed after a long, happy day filled with love and happiness.

Aaahhhh, the joy

I have had texts, phone calls, emails, been to dinner and chatted to the Silver Fox a few times. I am feeling very lucky. Lucky to have my health, my family and friends and to be loved. The silver Fox was here for the weekend and it was so lovely to do the ordinary things again. To watch him pottering around was sheer bliss.

One pressie I did get was a FitBit. I am in love...... It measures my steps, active time and distance covered. I can enter my food and fluid intake. It also does a sleep cycle and tells me how long I have been asleep and how often I have been restless and awake. That is my favourite bit! So now I can see how much time I really sleep as often I am plagued by nightmares and being awake.

I love it. It is kind of hard to make 10,000 steps I have realized too.

So, a big thank you. To my friends and family. Thanks for all the best wishes and all the love. One of my gorgeous friends also arranged a special card from my Mum to me. I had thought those days were lost forever. How thoughtful is she?

So dear Bloggers, I have had a lovely day and appreciate the wonderful people that make up my everyday
